The Academic Staff Union of Universities, on Monday, declared a total and indefinite strike over the failure of the Federal Government to keep to the 2019 Memorandum of Action and over the lingering c

risis on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.

Ogunyemi said the union expected the Federal Government to address its issues during the warning strike but that did not happen.reports that the five contentious issues in the 2019 MoA are; revitalisation fund for universities, outstanding earned academic allowances, renegotiation of the 2009 agreement, the proliferation of universities particularly by state governments and establishment of visitation panels to universities.

ASUU had also insisted that it had an alternative model to IPPIS, the University Transparency and Accountability Solution which it urged the Federal Government to adopt for the universities. The union thereafter announced a two-week warning strike on March 9, on the lingering IPPIS crisis, and the 2019 MoA.

Bad timing

They should strike well. We know this has been their regular style each passing year. We'll never get any better in our education system because those highly involve have their children schooling outside Nigeria, even some of the ASUU members. Nigeria is a joke.
