The Confederation of African Football did not include any Nigerian player, in its Best XI from the group stages of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The list which was published on Wednesday by CAF, includes four Egyptian players led by Liverpool winger, Mohammed Salah. Al-Ahly goalkeeper El-Shennawi and West Bromwich defender Hegazi, who helped the hosts keep clean sheets in their three fixtures so far, make the cut. Algerian duo of Ismail Bennacer and Riyad Mahrez, as well as Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi, Senegal midfielder Sadio Mane, Ghana forward Jordan Ayew, Cameroon defender Yaya Banana and Madagascar midfielder Anicet Andrianantenaina were also named among the best 11.

The selection across the teams reveals the best eleven players so far and another eight in the reserve list.

The players know themselves that non of them deserved to be in that list. The consolation is they have at most 3 matches to make it into the team of the tournament. Never over till it is.
