Again, gunmen kill two, injure five in fresh Plateau attack

After months of respite, there was a renewed attack in the area two weeks ago during which lives were lost and over 1,000 cattle rustled.A statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Plateau State Command, DSP Matthias Terna Tyopev, the Barkin Ladi Police Division about 8:00pm on Sunday received a distress call that a Peugeot 504 Station Wagon marked: AA 393 TSF, was attacked by unknown gunmen.

It pointed out that the caller said the victims were travelling from Fanlo to Nding Village when they were attacked, adding that the attack resulted in the killing of Stephen Samuel and Dajugu Randong, while five other persons escaped the attack with various degrees of injuries.

The Command further added that investigators have since visited the scene of crime and efforts ongoing to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act to face Justice.

Reacting to the attack, representative Plateau North Senatorial District, Istifanus Gyang expressed grief over the development, describing the attack as unfortunate.He added that the killing of another two persons at Nding Loh in Fan District of Barkin Ladi Council Area by unknown gunmen should be investigated.

Also responding, representative of Barkin-Ladi and Riyom federal constituency in House of Representatives, Simon Mwadkwon described the attack as barbaric, inhuman and unfortunate.
