Yunus Akeera, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 17, has declared that he is in the zone, which includes the states of Ondo and Ekiti, for important security-related matters.

The two states will not be safe havens for illegal activities, according to Akeera, who issued a strong warning to criminals in the zone.

After AIG Etim Okon retired from service on June 5,2022, Akeera assumed responsibility as the fourth AIG in-charge of the zone.

Speaking at the zone’s headquarters in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, Akeera said that Usman Alkali Baba, the inspector general of police, had directed the deployment of specialized operatives to identify the Owo attack culprits and to guard against such attacks in the future.

Akeera informed the zone’s officers and men that he was committed to keeping criminal activities to a minimal in the zone and that this could only be done with their help.

The police would take all necessary measures to preserve the peace currently enjoyed in both states according to Akeera, who described the two states as peaceful and blessed.
