Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Monday Igbuya, alongside other past lawmakers, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.

This was announced on Saturday by the State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, who received the decampees at Sapele Stadium.

Okowa stated that he welcomed returnees and decampees during a mega rally that was organised by the Delta Central zone of the party.

He also revealed that the former lawmakers and chieftains defected from the opposition party, All Progressives Congress.

His statement read, “Earlier today, at the Mega Rally organized by the leadership of our party in Delta Central to welcome returnees and decampees at Sapele Stadium, I emphasized that if we want our great party, PDP, to continue building the #StrongerDelta that we have started to build, we must remain united.

“I welcome all the new decampees from the All Progressive Congress led by a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Monday Igbuya, which includes a former member of House of Representatives, Solomon Edoja; Julius Akpovoka, Francis Aguonigho, Spin Ogboru, Anthony Enakpoya, and David Ukueku.

“It is my hope that working together, we will deliver all the wards and local governments in our state to PDP in the next general election.”
