Lai, Kangiwa others for African Sports Tourism Hall Of Fame induction

For pushing the frontiers of sports tourism and encouraging people to travel for sporting purposes, especially within their countries and the continent at large, Organisers of the continent’s premier and pan-African sports travel trade event known as African Sports Tourism Week (ASTW), have revealed that some notable individuals will be inducted into the prestigious African Sports Tourism Hall of Fame.
  
According to the organisers, the induction will take place alongside African Sports Tourism Summit and Masterclass, which is one of the activities of the week at Radisson Blu Anchorage, Victoria Island Lagos Nigeria. ASTW holds yearly in different African destinations; the last edition was held in Accra, Ghana.

  
The individuals up for induction include Founder or Upbeat Recreational Centre/Chairperson of Lagos Gymnastics Association; Moyo Ogunseinde, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, Governor, Seyi Makinde, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Honorable Minister of Youth & Sports; Sunday Dare, President of Nigeria Football Federation; Amani Pinnick, Didier Drogba, Founder/MD of Aiteo; Benedict Peters, CEO of Ghana Tourism Development Company; Antwi Kwadwo, Chairman of Air Peace; Allen Onyema, CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority; Akwasi Agyeman, DG of National Council for Culture & Arts; Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, First Vice President of Nigeria Football Federation; Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi, DG of National Institute for Hospitality & Tourism; Nura Kangiwa, President of Ghana Olympic Committee; Ben Nunoo Mensah, Chairman of Sabre West Africa Elder; Gbenga Olowo, CEO of Integral; Abimbola Ilo, Organiser of Lagos City Marathon; Bukola Olopade.
  
Speaking during a virtual media briefing, the founder and convener of ASTW Deji Ajomale – Mcword revealed excitement over bringing back ASTW to Lagos where it all started in 2018.

“Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi and others would be revealed later as grand patrons, and patrons of African Sports Tourism Week. The year’s tournament will be held in Ikoyi Club on November 12, 2021, before moving to Abuja for the FCT leg. ASTW Nigeria 2021 should outclass the past editions. The 2021 edition of ASTW will feature the second edition of Diplomacy Stableford, the golf tournament annually held to celebrate diplomats, diplomacy, human migration, travel and tourism.”
    
The convener who appreciated NANTA, ATPN, African Tourism Board and Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, for their partnership towards the event, added that different travel associations would also slug it out for a trophy, medals and prizes, at Tourism Soccer League, which will hold on November 6, 2021.
