Members of the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held parallel congresses across the five geo-political zones in the state.

There are five geo-political zones in the state – Ibadan, Ibarapa, Ogbomoso, Oke Ogun and Oyo.

DAILY POST recalls that the ward congresses of the party were held across the state on Saturday.

Our correspondent however gathered that parallel congresses were held across the state by two camps of the party in the state.

The two camps include those loyal to Governor Seyi Makinde and some aggrieved members of the party.

DAILY POST recalls that some aggrieved members of the party had vowed to work against the Governor.

The aggrieved members alleged that the governor had hijacked the party, with a promise that they will organise their own congresses.

DAILY POST gathered that while the Governor’s camp was organising their own congresses on Saturday, the aggrieved members were doing same at different locations.

Makinde, while speaking at the congress held by his camp in Ibadan, called for unity among members of the party in the state.

He advised the aggrieved members to give room for resolution.

The governor spoke at Ward 11, Ibadan North East Local Government.

One of the leaders of the aggrieved members, Mulikat Adeola-Akande, a former House of Representatives leader, confirmed that parallel congresses were held across the state on Saturday.

Adeola-Akande spoke at her Isale Ora Ward 6 in Ogbomoso on Saturday.

She said “Parallel across held across the state.

“We are on our side and they are on our side at the same venue. That’s the report we are getting in all local government areas.

“We have told our people to orderly and peaceful. We already concluded and results are ready. The security personnel has signed it too”.
