61 suspects paraded for assassination, robbery, others in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has said it arrested 61 suspected criminals for various offences in the state.

Parading the suspects at the Force Headquarters on Friday in Lafia, the Commissioner of Police, AIG Bola Longe, said that the suspects had been terrorising residents of the state until the police were able to arrest them.

He added that the suspects arrested were involved in assassination and robbery, vandalism, among various other crimes committed by the suspects.

 Longe, while parading the suspected assassins and robbers, said that the group had concluded plans to strike at some locations in the Karu Local Government Area of the state and eliminate their victims in the process, adding police command got credible information about their plans and were able to arrest them.

He said, “We raised a formidable team of detectives and operational personnel as a proactive step to prevent them from actualising their aim and in the process, we got them arrested.’’

He also paraded some suspected vandals who had been in the business of buying and selling railway tracks and slippers in the state.

He commended the Anti-kidnapping Unit of the command led by CSP Anietie Eyoh, for arresting the criminal elements who had been vandalising the railway items and said that plans are being made to charge the suspects to court.

The CP added, “While working on credible intelligence, the Anti-kidnapping unit of the command was able to intercept one citroen J5 Bus, with recently vandalised railway tracks at Agyaragu, Obi LGA. On sighting the police, the occupants of the vehicle abandoned it and escaped to an unknown destination.  We took the vehicle to the State CIID and investigation is still ongoing.’’
