Mosunmola Abudu, popularly known as Mo Abudu is not a pushover on Nigeria’s entertainment and social scene. She is indeed one of the few who has sold Nigerian entertainment in a new dimension to the rest of the world. The highly cerebral and smooth-talking grandmother did not just get her accolades in the industry by fluke but with consistency belling the cat with her TV talk show ‘Moments with Mo’ decades ago.

In 2006, the graduate of West Kent College launched her lifestyle channel Ebonylife TV and to the amazement of many, she deviated from the norm by promoting African fashion, local-based lifestyle content, culture, tradition by globalizing the local. With growing viewership and fan base, the lifestyle channel debut on DSTV on the 1st of in 2020. After a series of meetings, DSTV was left with no option than to yank her channel off their platform. “DSTV pleaded that she still retains the agreed payment formula but she insisted on a new mode of payment so the best thing to avoid litigation and its related issues is just to remove the channel. She is currently talking to some top officials in DSTV to allow her channel to be reinstalled but for now, the channel is yet to come up,” a source says.

In a bid to keep the channel afloat by not losing her numerous viewers across the world, the Ebony place boss launched her own EbonyLife ON app platform which will avail subscribers to watch their favourite soap operas without the stress of power outage or missing out on any content.
