Police in Katsina State kill five bandits
The Katsina State Police Command has killed five bandits during a shootout encounter with them at Mararabar Kankara in Kankara Council Area of the state.
Displaying bodies of the suspected bandits at command’s headquarters, Commissioner of Police (CP), Sanusi Buba, said the bandits have been terrorising Malumfashi, Faskari, Dandume, Bakori, Kankara and Sabuwa council areas.
He added that the bandits extended their criminal activities to neighbouring Zamfara and Kano states before they met their waterloo.
“Nemesis caught up with members of the gang when they were accosted along Mararabar Kankara road on their way to kidnap and rob at a location in Gwarzo Council Area of Kano State,” he stated.
He said three AK47 rifles with four magazines loaded with 94 pieces of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered in their possession.
He added that two additional AK47 rifles hidden at Mararabar Maigoro, were recovered, saying the police team that went to recover the rifles came under the bandits’ heavy gunfire.
Buba said the police responded and repelled their attack, leading to the killing of five suspects, whose bodies were displayed.
