Summary The Twister ride at Universal Studios Orlando closed in 2015 after 17 years. TheTwister remake is a welcome addition to its cinematic universe, but the original Twister ride did not keep up with the same amount of excitement. The Twister ride, its full name being Twisters... Ride It Out, was a tornado simulator and included voices from the original Twister actors, including Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt.

In 2009, the ride initially reduced its opening times by only opening during the peak periods, but there was enough demand to open the ride all the time again. Unfortunately, soon after, demand declined, and fewer people attended the ride and on November 2nd, 2015, the ride officially closed its doors. Interest in the original Twister film declined, which in turn diminished guest curiosity for the ride as well.
Race Through New York is seemingly not going down in attendance like the Twister ride did and remains active. The ride does pay homage to Twister actor Bill Paxton by adding a shirt his character wore in the background of the attraction. Maybe the new Twisters movie would have regained interest in the Twister ride. Of course, as it has been closed for years now, there would have been no way to re-open the ride in honor of the sequel.
