These alerts went out to cell phones throughout western Washington on March 28, 2024, as Everett police searched for 4-year-old Ariel Garcia. , many in the public are raising questions about the alerts sent to people’s cell phones Thursday evening.

Everett police said an AMBER Alert was prepared but didn’t end up going out because they didn’t have a known suspect to include in the information. The WSP canceled the EMPA just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday with a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.that was recovered as Ariel. Identification will be left to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
