Three of the car's occupants were taken into custody, and a modified AK-47 with a fully loaded magazine was recovered by police.
Desmond Bostick, 25, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Seattle to assault.9:54 AM PDT April 12, 2024during an Alaska Airlines flight from San Diego to Seattle last year.
While seated in the last row of the plane during the flight on June 20, 2023, Bostick repeatedly touched the thigh of a woman in the middle seat next to him, prosecutors said. He also grabbed her buttocks twice when she stood up to let a passenger in the window seat exit and reenter the row. A federal grand jury returned an indictment in the case last September and Bostick was located and arrested by the FBI on Feb. 9. Bostick admitted as part of the plea agreement that he touched the woman with sexual motivation, prosecutors said.From 2019 to 2021 there was a 25% increase in investigations of sexual misconduct on planes, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In 2018, there were 27 sexual misconduct investigations.
