Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr acknowledges that his initial plan for second-year guard Jonathan Kuminga, which involved him as a primary ball-handler, was not suitable. Kerr now recognizes that Podziemski thrives better as an off-ball player, a realization prompted by the team's recent acquisition of Dennis Schroder. The coach admits that pushing Podziemski into a lead guard role was unfair and hopes that Schroder's arrival will help the young player find his footing again.

In October, Warriors coach Steve Kerr “Well I think BP, will fill that role,” Kerr said to NBC Sports Bay Area in October. "He might start, and if does start he’ll come out early and then come in for Steph. If he doesn’t start, he’ll come off the bench and handle a lot of the ball-handling duties."

However, after the team acquired Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets, it was clear that the team was making a pivot from that plan. During Schroder's press conference this week, Kerr admitted that his previous plan for Podziemski was unfair. According to Kerr, Podziemski is better to have off-ball than on-ball.-Schroder was on 2nd unit in scrimmaging to get him acclimated to that group.-Kerr said it was "unfair" to push Podziemski into a lead guard role.
