Ahead of its theatrical release, The Marvels director Nia DaCosta addressed her upcoming superhero movie's short runtime.
“I really wanted it to be under two hours,” DaCosta said. “I always think about the runtime actually, when I go into a film. I just feel like there’s no need to have it long if you don’t need to, because 1 hour 45 minutes is pretty average for a movie, so we were all really excited, I just think you do what’s right for the movie. I didn’t even know about this runtime thing until I think it was reported on. You have to do what’s right for the movie.
The Marvels is directed by DaCosta from a screenplay by Megan McDonnell. Leading the cast are Oscar winner Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, WandaVision breakout star Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. They will be joined by MCU vet Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn, and popular South Korean actor Park Seo-Joon.Maggie Dela Paz has been writing about the movie and TV industry for more than four years now.
