TikTok has previously disputed similar claims, saying it addressed those concerns with new features and removes users who appear to be underage.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing TikTok for allegedly violating a new state law that requires social media platforms to put in place child-safety protections and allow for parental oversight. The suit, filed in state district court in Galveston County , claims TikTok has failed to develop a “commercially reasonable method” for a child’s parent or guardian to verify their identity and relationship to the minor.

Paxton is asking the court to issue an order requiring the company to comply with the law, as well as civil penalties of $10,000 for each violation.
