Both Obi-Wan and Satine fought their entire lives for peace, but they both died before they could see that peace. Decades later, Rey would have finally fulfilled their work by killing Palpatine. She also would have been a living testament of the love they had for each other, a sign that their love, however brief, was strong enough to save the world.
