AVON, Ohio - A busy stretch of Detroit Road is seeing a big change: Drivers will notice new speed limit signs along the 6-mile stretch through Avon.
“They are trying to make it a little more consistent,” says Jim Drozdowski, Public Information Officer for Avon Police.Then, from Middleton Drive to just West of the High School is 35 mph.“We feel that with the studies being done, this will make it a little bit easier to get through town,” says Drozdowski.“It was going from 45 to 35 to 25, back to 35, back to 40,” says Drozdowski.They looked at studies to decide what would be best for the city.
“Being a state route, you always have to work with the state on it and the municipalities and the state try to work together on it, and the studies showed this would be a little bit more consistent and probably help out safety issue,” says Drozdowski.“You got cars speeding up, slowing down, speeding up, it creates problems,” says Drozdowski.
