The US Space Force's unfunded project list includes classified programs and infrastructure needs, such as communications and launch capabilities.
The US Space Force presented a $1.15 billion list of unfunded projects to Congress, including infrastructure projects, space launches, and several classified programs., the list has 13 items, of which six are classified. One of these is the most expensive item on the list, worth over $300 million. Every year, the military sends Congress a list of programs they want to fund but that wasn’t included in the annual budget request.
Furthermore, the Space Force has requested a budget of $60 million for the revival of one or two launches within the Rapid Systems Launch Program for the Pentagon’s Space Test Program. The request further states that the effort aligns with the National Military Strategy , emphasizing technical modernization within the joint force.The Space Force’s official budget request for Fiscal Year 2025 stands at $29.4 billion, which is a slight decrease from the previous year’s request of $30 billion, as noted by Department of the Air Force chief Frank Kendall.
The US Space Command has echoed Space Force’s concerns, presenting a wish list totaling an additional $1.2 billion in unfunded needs.
