Zach Gingrich 's earliest memories are of holding a baseball, yet it was not until his junior year at Smithson Valley that he saw a pathway toward transforming his dream of becoming a collegiate baseball player into reality. When Gingrich was 14 years old, he tried out and was selected to participate in the Texas Angels ' top travel team, which had several good prospects, such as Boerne Champion shortstop Jordan Ballin , a University of Texas at San Antonio signee.
