The conference didn't wait long to react to Texas fans' behavior.
The SEC announced Sunday that Texas will be fined and must meet requirements set forth by the Commissioner Greg Sankey after“The throwing of debris and resulting interruption of play that took place Saturday night cannot be part of any SEC event,” Sankey said in a released statement.
Review and update its athletics department game management procedures and alcohol availability policies to prevent a recurrence of Saturday night’s disruption. The SEC won’t suspend alcohol sales for Texas, but, per the release, reserves the right to do so if other requirements outlined above are not met.
Texas issued a joint statement from Board of Regents Chairman Kevin Eltife, President Jay Hartzell and athletic director Chris Del Conte that condemned the bottle-throwing and apologized to Georgia players and staff, the SEC and game officials.
