A San Francisco Sheriff's Department Oversight Board member pleaded not guilty Monday to a handful of felony charges stemming from an alleged sexual assault . William"Tariq" Palmer II, a 53-year-old criminal justice advocate , denied Monday that he personally caused great bodily injury to a woman who alleged he sexually assaulted her in his home after offering her a ride to a BART station.
Palmer, in all, pleaded not guilty to charges of sodomy by force, assault with intent to commit a felony, sexual battery by restraint, one count of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury and one count of false imprisonment. San Francisco police officers arrested Palmer on Thursday, booking him into the San Francisco County Jail that same day. San Francisco Police Department Sgt. Kathryn Winters told The Examiner before Palmer's plea Monday that the department is investigating the alleged sexual assault and could not comment on the matter. Several outlets reported Palmer's arrest stemmed from an assault that allegedly occurred on Aug. 3
