CLERB is on the hunt for new board members and a new executive officer
The executive officer just quit, saying his findings and recommendations were not being taken seriously by the sheriff or county supervisors. The panel itself has multiple vacancies, and multiple recent meetings have been pushed back or canceled altogether due to the lack of a quorum.
In a subsequent interview, Parker said he felt he could not continue with his work because neither the Board of Supervisors nor Sheriff Kelly Martinez appeared committed to the reforms he said were needed to improve law enforcement practices. “I think I was maybe too strong for this board,” he said at the time. “I was maybe too proactive.
