A 74-foot Norway spruce from the Southern Berkshires will be cut on Nov. 7 and displayed at Rockefeller Center through mid-January.

This year’s Rockefeller Center Christmas tree will hail from Massachusetts for the first time since 1959.

A towering Norway spruce from West Stockbridge, located in the Southern Berkshires, is set to be cut on Thursday, Nov. 7, and will arrive at Rockefeller Center on Nov. 9. Once it reaches Midtown, the 74-foot, 11-ton tree will be wrapped in tens of thousands of LED lights and topped with a Swarovski star weighing roughly 900 pounds. The tree will be lit on Dec. 4 during the annual “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” broadcast.

The 70-year-old spruce will remain on display until mid-January, after which it will be milled into lumber and donated to Habitat for Humanity. Massachusetts last provided a Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in 1959. In recent years, the tree has been sourced from locations such as Maryland, Connecticut and Canada.Giulia Heyward is a breaking news reporter on the Day-Of desk.
