The wearable limb will extend from a backpack equipped with a controller and motors that power the limbs.
MIT engineers have developed wearable robotic limbs that have the potential to help astronauts get up quickly from falls on the lunar surface.
NASA videos of Apollo astronauts have pointed to various funny incidents of astronauts falling on the lunar surface. However, for MIT engineers, these lunar bloopers sparked inspiration for innovation as falling could pose a serious risk. They created a stiff spacesuit and conducted “ergonomic experiments” to observe how humans typically stand up when wearing such a suit.
Interestingly, the volunteers experienced less exertion when aided by SuperLimbs to stand up than when they tried to recover without any support.
