Delia and Astrid from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice are in front of the Day-O scene in Beetlejuice

The moody pop ballad, written by Jimmy Webb, became an unexpected hit after being recorded by actor/singer Richard Harris in 1968. Though “MacArthur Park” went on to be recorded by numerous other artists, Tim Burton uses that original song in Beetlejuice 2. The dancing and lipsyncing in Beetlejuice’s “Day-O” possession scene is relatively tame because the Maitlands are in charge.
