The Associated Press said that after further inspecting the photo, it did not meet the organization’s photo standards, noting an inconsistency in alignment.
Photo agencies, including Reuters, Getty Images and the Associated Press, on Sunday asked their clients to withdraw a newly released image of Catherine, Princess of Wales, who had not been seen publicly for weeks as she recovered from abdominal surgery, saying it had been manipulated.
The release of the image Sunday, Mother’s Day in Britain, seemed to quell at least some of those concerns. It was dated 2024 in Kensington Palace’s post.The British royal family have long been experts at image projection — Queen Elizabeth II, who used to wear brightly-colored outfits for her public appearances, once said that “I have to be seen to be believed.”
