According to the team, the new type of construction used has never before been utilized in the production of blades. It is more resistant to tidal stream conditions because of its monolithic construction, which eliminates the weaker adhesive joints present in traditional rotor blades. According to QED Naval, the project aims at the tidal energy sector to develop an expedited cost-cutting route to test and demonstrate up to 8 MW of new tidal capacity at various locations throughout the English Channel region in the UK.
