Mattel is officially developing a live-action Monster High movie with Universal Pictures and producer Akiva Goldsman.
The film will be based on Mattel’s popular toyline of fashion dolls imagined as the teen children of legendary classic monsters such as Dracula and Frankenstein. Besides the Monster High movie, Goldsman is also currently serving as one of the producers on Tom Hanks’ Major Matt Mason movie.
The popular toyline was first introduced in 2010 by toy designer Garrett Sander. It immediately became a beloved expansive universe rich with inclusive storytelling and doll play, fostering a fandom that spans generations. Prior to receiving a live-action movie adaptation, Monster High was first adapted into multiple animated films and TV series.Maggie Dela Paz has been writing about the movie and TV industry for more than four years now.
