The Los Angeles Dodgers may have just picked up their club option on shortstop Miguel Rojas, but Matt Vasgersian went out on a limb and said the Miami Marlins may bring him on as a player-manager.
The Miami Marlins have the last manager vacancy remaining across MLB, and it may be time for them to get creative in terms of how they fill it.
That isn't a particularly wild prediction on the surface, considering Dodgers first base coach Clayton McCullough has been publicly floated as a candidate for the position. What Vasgersian said next, however, was certainly bold.November 5, 2024 Miami traded Rojas to Los Angeles in January 2023, and he has since gone on to win a World Series ring with the Dodgers.
Rojas hit .283 with six home runs, 36 RBI, eight stolen bases, a .748 OPS and a career-high 3.4 WAR across 103 games in 2024.
