Jose Azocar drives in two runs in the seventh inning of Padres' loss; Michael King pitches into fifth inning in the start
The Padres closed their exhibition schedule with a 7-6 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday at Petco Park. Batter’s box: Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-1 with a walk and scored on a wild pitch for the second run in a two-run first. Ha-Seong Kim drove in the first run with a single, cashing in Xander Bogaerts’ leadoff double. … Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Jurickson Profar, Eguy Rosario and Jackson Merrill all went 0-for-2.
King threw 48 of 76 pitches for strikes. … Morejón allowed a hit while recording all four of his outs via strikeout. … Randy Vasquez struck out three and allowed a run on three walks and one hit over two innings. … Woo-Suk Go struck out a batter and allowed two “singles” — one off the glove of a leaping Graham Pauley at third base and another that fell in between second baseman Nik McClaughry and right fielder Kai Murphy — before R.J. Schreck lined a game-tying single to right.
