A Camp Pendleton -based Marine learned this week that charges related to an alleged sexual assault of a teenager found in his barracks on Camp Pendleton in late June have been referred to a general court-martial, according to a military official. The charges were referred to the court-martial by Brigadier General Andrew M. Niebel, the commanding general of the 1st Marine Logistics Group, according to Capt. Virginia Burger, communications director for the Camp Pendleton -based logistics group.
PFC Avery L. Rosario was first made aware of the charges when he appeared in a Camp Pendleton courtroom on Aug. 17 for an Article 32 hearing, the equivalent of a preliminary hearing in a civilian court.
