Laundry Project hosted two events Saturday in Jacksonville where families were able to do their laundry for free.– For a lot of families in need, being able to wash and dry their clothes regularly is easier said than done. For that reason, the Tampa-based nonprofit, the Laundry Project , hosted two events Saturday in Jacksonville where families were able to do their laundry for free.
Veterans Coin Laundry on Baymeadows Road was one of two locations where the Laundry Project offered its services.“Shocked and a little confused. When you come in and hear ‘free’, you’re like, ‘Oh what? Free?’ And there were like no strings attached. We made sure we learned that word, no strings attached,” Bullock said.Bullock is one of the coaches with Hatchet Pro Wrestling. He brought some of the students with him to help out.
He said for his group, making a difference for others is a priority. And this experience is eye-opening. “Washing machines and dryers are 600 bucks a piece, not everyone has that luxury. And washers and dryers are $10, 15 bucks here,” Bullock said. “A lot of families have to pick whether they want clean clothes for their kids and family or if they want food that night. If we can make a difference that day and make sure they have clean clothes and food for the week, then that’s something small we can do. And we’re happy to do it.
