Angelia Moore, president of the IPS board, announced the district is creating a new task force focused on student safety.

Attorneys shared cellphone video of a teacher at IPS School 87 allegedly recording a 7-year-old student with special needs being attacked.

"It has been an incredibly tough time for our community the last few days," Johnson said in her update April 24. She described the now-viral video as"appalling and disturbing." "'Are you done yet?' That's the teacher saying that to these children as he's beating up on this little boy. 'Are you done yet?' It's shocking," said Tammy Meyer, who is one of the attorneys representing the family.

IPS tells parents they're taking a closer look at School 87 after lawsuit over 7-year-old student attacked "IPS does not tolerate the type of behavior alleged in the complaint and takes reports of potential abuse and neglect seriously. When IPS learned of the teacher’s conduct, the Department of Child Services was immediately notified, and the teacher was removed from the classroom and suspended. The teacher had no further contact with students and is no longer employed by IPS.
