Evening rush hour could be fairly smooth. But a new storm will arrive at about 10 p.m., bringing substantial precipitation.

The rain isn't close to being over. Although a bit of sunshine is breaking through in some areas, rain cells will continue to drift ashore until about 3 p.m. Wednesday, says the National Weather Service. Some communities could receive brief bursts of hail, as Otay Ranch did late Tuesday night. A new storm will push ashore around 10 p.m. and last well into Thursday, bringing significant precipitation.

The California Highway Patrol said chains are required east of Warner Springs near Montezuma Valley Road and San Felipe Road. A snow plow was reported to be stuck in about a foot of snow on state Route 79 near Oak Lake Lane near Julian shortly after 9:05 a.m. Around 9:45 a.m., CHP officers responded to a car that went off Interstate 8 and down an embankment near Mazanita Road, east of Golden Acre Casino.
