How Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers fare against Padres starter Yu Darvish, and the performance of the L.A. bullpen will be worth watching in NLDS Game 5.
On the TV screens inside the Dodgers’ home clubhouse Thursday, two slides clicked back and forth. The first showed the team’s schedule for an off-day workout, on the eve of a decisive Game 5 in the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres.
In his 2012 rookie season, Darvish was the losing pitcher in the American League wild-card game with the Texas Rangers, despite giving up only three runs in 6⅔ innings. And then, of course, there was his infamous Game 7 start for the Dodgers in the 2017 World Series, when he was rocked for five runs in less than two innings by the Houston Astros. Does that memory still haunt Darvish? “Obviously, I remember about that time,” he said Thursday.
