Few actors in Hollywood are as respected and admired as Denzel Washington . First getting his start in acting back in the late '70s, Washington has played a number of iconic characters in a number of acclaimed movies over the past five decades. Some of his most memorable early movies include Glory , Malcolm X , The Hurricane , and, of course, Training Day .
The Equalizer Scores A Mixed Grade For Its Accuracy Denzel Washington's Fight Scene Goes Too Far A Russian mafia expert docks realism points from The Equalizer for its handling of certain criminal elements, but it's not all inaccurate.
Posts In a recent video for Insider, former CIA officer and Russian mafia investigator Joe Serio analyzes Washington's attempt to purchase Teri's freedom and the ensuing fight scene. According to the expert, the gangster's refusal of the offer is realistic because Teri is far more valuable to them than $9,800. The fight scene that follows, however, is"ridiculous," despite being a lot of fun.
I love movies like this. I love The Equalizer, shoot-em-up, kill-em-up, whatever kind of movies. So the fight scene is totally ridiculous, but he’s Denzel Washington and he’s The Equalizer so that’s what he’s gotta do. This scene is mostly unrealistic. It has a couple moments that’s pretty typical of Russian mafia. I’ll give it about a five .
