The Dallas Foundation is promoting Julie Diaz from her previous title as the interim president and CEO to the foundation's full-time leader. She will begin in...
Diaz joined the foundation in 2019 as vice president of philanthropic relationships and took over as interim chief in May 2023 when former CEODiaz’s experience as a Dallas resident for nearly two decades gave her an advantage over other candidates, said Dallas Foundation board chair Lydia Addy in a statement.
“To me, this feels like an important vote of confidence about my leadership and the direction we want to take the foundation with our centennial coming up soon,” she said. “I’ve seen how much this city has grown and we made a promise to the city of Dallas to always be there to support them with philanthropic dollars. It may sound lofty, but we play an important role in working with folks who want to make a difference.
Staying on top of the city’s biggest issues, like homelessness, food insecurity, education and housing, is something Diaz said she believes the Dallas Foundation will be able to help address in the coming years. “Many people want to be charitable and give back but sometimes they don’t know where to start. That’s the role that we can help with,” Diaz said. “We have a lot of important work on our plate but we have an incredible team here. I really think we can help neighborhoods thrive. So I’m really looking forward to us being an important ally to the city of Dallas.”. Irving is a business writer for the Dallas Morning News.
