Monday April 15, is the deadline to file taxes and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has last-minute tips and tools for Alaska taxpayers.

According to an IRS press release, everything needed for tax preparation, answers to tax law questions and refund tracking can be found on their website at“Millions of taxpayers across the nation will be working on their tax returns during the final hours, and people should remember they have many ways to get last-minute help,” said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel.

For taxpayers that need an extension to file their taxes, there are options to get an automatic extension through October 15. “Although an extension grants extra time to file, it does not extend the obligation to pay taxes due on April 15, 2024″ according to the IRS. So, in order to avoid late fees it is best to pay the entirety of what is owed or at least most of it by the April 15 deadline.
