A mother who hid her daughter in a drawer under her bed for the first three years of her life was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for the "extreme neglect," according toOfficers with the Cheshire Constabulary were called to a residence in 2023 after a neighbor heard an unknown voice crying in an upstairs bedroom and found a 3-year-old girl in a drawer beneath the bed,For the young girl's safety, authorities did not disclose her name or the names of her family...
"I looked directly at her mom and asked, 'Is this where you keep her?'" the social worker explained. "The mother replied matter-of-factly, 'Yes, in the drawer.'" The mother kept the existence of the child hidden from her other children and partner, despite them all living in or often visiting the home, according to court documents.
"An intelligent little girl who is now perhaps slowly coming to life, from what was almost a living death in that room," the judge said.
