Anthony Davis' 40-points helped deny the Spurs their first win in the NBA's annual Emirates Cup tournament
As the saying goes, when you come at the champs, you best not miss. The Spurs didn’t miss much in Friday’s NBA Emirates Cup opener against the Los Angeles Lakers , but down the stretch missed just enough to fall 120-115 at the Frost Bank Center . Anthony Davis scored 40 points with 12 rebounds and an otherwise out-of-sync LeBron James turned in his fourth consecutive triple-double with 15 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists, as the Lakers out-maneuvered the Spurs down the stretch of a tight game.
James talked to Castle about different reads he could have made throughout the game. “I really respect him and appreciate him for coming up and saying that to me,” Castle said. “He didn't really have to.” The way James sees it, for the good of the sport these kinds of conversations with young players are mandatory. “I’ve always had an open-door policy when people want to get better and learn the game,” James said. “Every group that comes in every year, I do the same thing.
