Zuraida: Locals not keen to work in plantations despite lucrative income

JITRA, Oct 16 —The relatively lucrative income offered for plantation workers, especially during the harvesting period, is still not able to attract locals, said Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.

“We do not have enough workers for the harvesting period, locals can do the job if they want to, but they say it is a heavy and difficult task. To address the shortage of workers, she said, the government had recently decided to bring in 32,000 foreigners to work in the plantation sector.

How true is that statement? 🤔🤔

Locals prefer to work in Australia.

Come out with academy of pemanen.

3D jobs. Malaysia need to innovate to have these job less labour intensive 🙃

Since she is a local and getting lucrative income, she should work there

Hmm, will the plantation companies agree to pay 'minimum wage' that is indexed to cost of living & inflation? Plus provide benefits like free health care etc? ybz99 Saravanan_myg IsmailSabri60

Zuraida, please ask your children want to work there or not?

ybz99 It’s now yr job to improve on this & push forward the exports. IsmailSabri60

Kita kena terima hakikat kebenaran perkara ini.

Lol RM 1,200 is lucrative.. work as promoter also get more and no need the hard labour... Hard labour workers should be provided with more financial benefits but no... The one sitting at the top shaking balls like her gets the lucrative salary

Is that what your children say to you? How's Arsemeen lately?

Locals all want to be MP

Define lucrative.

Ask Zuraida to work in plantation for a month or two with that 'lucrative' income and see if she still say the same

That was and is obvious. She just realised this ?

Locals have choice to work in more lucrative jobs than in plantations 😀🤑 zuraida_my mpic_my mpob_tweets lgm_mrb lkm_gov

zuraida_my feel free to work for 1.2k a month under the hot sun, lead by example

Who will break it to her? RM 1,200 - RM 2,000+/mth for long hours of physical labour is NOT LUCRATIVE. “The salary of these farm workers is lucrative... some pay a basic salary of RM1,200 and plus the incentives and overtime allowance, they can get more than RM2,000 a month”.

zuraida_my yes yb, obviously

Can this Minister justify her statement with any latest research data? If you can't dont talk nonsense to the rakyat's and please step down if you don't has any good ideas IsmailSabri60
