KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has gone for a Covid-19 test, soon after Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was confirmed positive for the disease.

"At the moment, I will be under self-quarantine at home. Please pray that my whole family and I are not infected by Covid-19," the Bagan Datuk MP said.

Tajuddin, the Pasir Salak MP, became the latest in a list of politicians to test positive for Covid-19. In a Facebook post Wednesday , the Umno supreme council member said he took a Covid-19 test on Tuesday , and was confirmed positive on Wednesday. Tajuddin was at a press conference last week with Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz at Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.Pictures of Tajuddin and Zahid, supposedly in a meeting on the same day of the press conference, also went viral on social media."I will remain consistent despite the 'bullets' and #accusations as well as 'rockets' from Umno's enemies from all angles, within and outside, aimed repeatedly at me.

"The strength of Umno actually comes from the defences of its grassroots. Although there are attempts to destroy its leaders, the defences remain strong," he said.
