KUALA LUMPUR: A 22-year-old woman suffered severe side effects after using a slimming product with the treatment allegedly carried out by an uncertified individual.

The victim, who wished to be known only as Chua, said she bought the"lipodissolve" liquid injection from an Instagram seller in September for RM250.

"At first, I planned to undergo the treatment with the product seller, who stays in Johor, but I was unable to do so due to Covid-19 restrictions. "The friend conducted the injections on my arms, thigh and stomach on Sept 10 at my home but it was done without proper procedure," she claimed at a press conference organised by MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong on Friday .

Meanwhile, Chong said the product was not approved by the Health Ministry and the person who performed the injections did not have proper qualifications."We will assist the victim in taking legal action against those responsible," he said.
