Wife of suspect beaten to death by police wins RM440,000 damages

THE wife of N. Dharmendran, a prisoner who died in a police lock-up six years ago, today received more than RM440,000 in damages after winning her suit against the police and the federal government.

High Court judge Ahmad Zaidi Ibrahim made the landmark ruling against 11 defendants, including Insp S. Hare Krishnan, Sgt Jaffri Jaffar, Cpl Mohd Nahar Abd Rahman, Cpl Mohd Haswadi Zamri Shaari, the inspector-general of police, former Kuala Lumpur CID chief Ku Chin Wah, former officers Mohmad Salleh, Yahya Abd Rahman, Khairi Ahrasa and Glenn Anthony Sinappiah
