Fr Xavier Andrew, the Ecclesiastical Assistant for the Archdiocesan Ministry of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs during the PMEIA meeting at the Church of Our Lady of Fatima.A briefing on the Parish Ministry Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs was held at the Church of Our Lady of Fatima after the September 3 and 4 weekend Masses.
Fr Xavier opened the session by saying we should start building bridges in our communities. “We should view our relationship with our inter-faith neighbours, friends and participants as part of our brotherhood and sisterhood. Of late, our relationships with them have become stronger. We have developed a new mindset. Previously, we were considered a bureaucratic Church — rigid, inflexible, organisational, but not now. Today we approach all people as children of God.
Ruben added that on Aug 20, an event titled “Peace Conversation” was held at the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields. Eight leaders from different religious faiths focused on “Loving-kindness to Enhance Harmonious Living”.
