LONDON, Oct 19 — Spanish renewable energy giant Iberdrola has committed to invest £6 billion to create Britain’s biggest offshore wind development, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the company said yesterday.

Iberdrola chairman Ignacio Galan said the investment would be a “significant step to achieving enough offshore wind to power every UK home by 2030”. The British leader also sees green investment as key to growing the country’s economy after the coronavirus pandemic and Brexit. Its chief executive Hamid Moghadam said private-sector innovation had “a major role in overcoming the environmental challenges the world faces today”.
