Two boats with RM100,000 controlled items seized | Daily Express Online - Sabah's Leading News PortalThe Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency recently seized two local cargo boats loaded with controlled goods worth RM100,000 without a permit in the waters, off here. Tawau Maritime Zone Director Shahrizan Raman said three suspects, including a local man, were detained. The team on Ops Sejahtera patrol stopped the two boats that were believed to be heading towards Sebatik Island from Tawau waters. The first cargo boat was from Kuala Sungai Tawau loaded with sundries. Thorough inspection on the boat led to the discovery of 1,680kg of sugar and 1,258kg of cooking oil packets hidden under a pile of sundries. “The 33-year-old Indonesian skipper failed to furnish a valid permit from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP). The second boat was stopped in the waters off Kg Titingan. The boat was also loaded with sundries. Inspections led to the discovery of 27 units of liquefied petroleum gas hidden under a pile of groceries. The 44-year-old Indonesian skipper and his assistant, a 29-year-old local, failed to furnish valid permits for the controlled items. The case is being probed under the Supply Control Act 1961 and the Customs Act 1967
