TURKEY received the first batch of the Russian S-400 missile defence system today in a move expected to raise tensions with the United States, which has repeatedly warned against the purchase. The delivery at an air base in the Turkish capital Ankara comes after Washington warned this week that there would be “real and negative” consequences if Turkey bought the defence system.
