GEORGE TOWN: The novel coronavirus scare has made many Malaysians planning trips and holidays to China or neighbouring countries to give them them a miss.
Malaysian Association of Hotels Penang chapter chairman Khoo Boo Lim said there have been cancellations from those who booked to travel from China.“Those are due to tourists from China cancelling their trips. So far, it has just been those from China and not other countries, ” he said. Hotel Jen communications manager Ellie Yeoh said there were mandatory body temperature checks for new check-ins and those visiting the outlets on the hotel premises.“If they feel unwell or would like to check their temperature, they can just come down to the hotel’s reception.
“This is the peak period for travellers from China as it is the Chinese New Year holidays, but we are doing fewer tours because of the virus scare.
